The University of Western Australia (UWA) — ranked #90 globally (QS World University Rankings 2026) and consistently in the world’s top-100 — is among the most prestigious universities to commit to an Indian branch campus. UWA’s India campus brings QS top-100 credentials to Indian students at a fraction of the cost of studying in Perth.

UWA is part of the prestigious Group of Eight (Go8) coalition of Australia’s leading research universities, making its degrees highly valued by employers and postgraduate institutions worldwide.

Master of Artificial Intelligence — why it stands out

UWA’s Master of AI is one of the few AI-specialist postgraduate programmes available at an IBC campus in India. The curriculum covers machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and ethical AI governance. Given that India’s AI talent market is severely supply-constrained — with salaries for ML engineers averaging ₹18–35 lakh per annum at mid-level — a UWA AI master’s from a top-100 university is positioned to command a significant premium.

Entry requirements: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline. CGPA 6.5+/10 or equivalent. IELTS 6.5+.

Cost comparison vs Perth

UWA Perth charges approximately AUD 42,000–48,000 (≈ ₹23–27 lakh) per year for international students in its postgraduate programmes. The India campus programmes are priced at ₹14.5–17.5 lakh per year — a tuition saving of approximately 30–40%, and 60%+ on total cost including living expenses.

UGC recognition

UWA India operates under UGC FHEI Regulations 2023. Degrees are issued by the University of Western Australia and recognised for all central government examinations, PSU recruitment, and higher education purposes.
