The career outcome question is the most important one for any prospective IBC student. This guide covers what we know from early placement data, employer feedback, and salary benchmarks — and is honest about where data is still limited because the IBC landscape in India is new.

Note: Most IBC campuses in India have been operational for 1–3 years. Rigorous, multi-year placement data is not yet available. The figures below are based on available reports from individual campuses, employer surveys, and comparable market benchmarks. They will be updated as data matures.

What employers actually see

When an Indian employer receives a CV from an IBC graduate, they see:

  • University name: “University of Southampton”, “University of Liverpool” — not the India campus
  • Degree title: MSc Computer Science, BEng Software Engineering — identical to the home campus
  • Graduation year and location: The graduate’s CV will typically note “Gurugram, India” as the study location

Most large employers with international hiring are familiar with these universities. Recruiters at GCCs, consulting firms, and investment banks who have hired from the UK home campus know the brand. The key friction point is communicating the IBC model — many Indian mid-market employers are not yet aware that foreign universities have Indian campuses.

What to do: When explaining your degree to an employer unfamiliar with IBCs, frame it as: “I have a degree from the University of Southampton — their India campus, which follows the same curriculum and is assessed by the same faculty as the UK campus.” This resolves confusion immediately.

Salary benchmarks by discipline (India, 2026)

These are benchmark salary ranges for fresh IBC graduates entering the Indian job market. They reflect what Glocampus advisors observe in the market and published salary data from comparable programmes.

DisciplineEntry level CTC (0–1 yr)Mid-level CTC (3–5 yr)
MSc Computer Science₹10–18 lakh₹22–40 lakh
MSc Data Science₹10–18 lakh₹22–45 lakh
MSc Finance / FinTech₹9–16 lakh₹18–35 lakh
MBA (top IBC campus)₹12–20 lakh₹25–50 lakh
BEng Software Engineering₹7–14 lakh₹18–32 lakh

These ranges are wide because outcomes vary significantly by: (a) the individual’s prior experience and skills, (b) the target employer type (FAANG/GCC vs mid-market IT services), and (c) city.

Early placement data from operational campuses

Southampton Gurugram: Informal placement data from the first two cohorts (2024 and 2025) suggests MSc CS and MSc Data Science graduates are placing at GCC engineering roles and mid-market tech companies at ₹12–18 lakh entry CTC. MBA cohort placement data is not yet publicly available.

Liverpool LIBI Bengaluru: LIBI reports placement partnerships with Wipro, Cognizant, and Deloitte India for Bengaluru cohorts. Early MBA placements are reportedly in the ₹12–16 lakh range.

Deakin GIFT City: First-cohort MBA (FinTech) placement data is not yet available at time of writing (May 2026 — the first full cohort graduated March 2026). Watch the Deakin India website for official placement statistics in Q3 2026.

How to maximise your career outcomes at an IBC

  1. Use the parent university’s global alumni network: Most IBC graduates get full access to the parent university’s alumni platform — connect with UK or Australian alumni in your target sector from day one of your programme
  2. Proactively explain your IBC degree: Craft a clear 2-sentence explanation for interviews and networking — most employers respond positively once they understand the model
  3. Target international employers: Companies with a home country presence that is familiar with your university brand (UK/Australian MNCs, GCCs) will shortlist you more easily than firms with no international exposure
  4. Build the India network alongside: Bengaluru/Gurugram/Chennai campuses have proximity to industry that, if leveraged actively, generates internship and placement leads that wouldn’t exist if you had studied in the UK or Australia
  5. Document your UGC/IFSCA recognition early: For government examination applications, gather your IBC’s registration letter at enrolment — don’t wait until you need it

Salary benchmarks are indicative market data as of May 2026 and will be updated as IBC placement statistics mature.
